J-Fashion

Shop J-Fashion at Pinky Dollz, our Tokyo edit, pulled from the streets of Harajuku, Shibuya and Shinjuku. Japanese street fashion has never been one thing, and neither is this collection. Kawaii star prints and Sanrio pieces sit next to leopard gyaru minis, rhinestone mesh tops, studded jackets and dark girly lace. If you grew up saving Tokyo street snaps to a folder, this is that folder, made shoppable.

Every piece is hand-picked rather than bulk-listed, so the edit stays small and specific. Start with the sub-edits if you already know your aesthetic: Harajuku Kawaii for the sweet side, Gyaru Y2K for the glamorous one, Jirai Kei for dark girly, and Harajuku Punk for studs, plaid and crosses. For the Korean half of the boutique, see K-Fashion.

What is J-Fashion?

J-Fashion is an umbrella term for Japanese street fashion, the subculture styles that grew out of Tokyo districts like Harajuku, Shibuya and Koenji. It covers kawaii and decora, gyaru, jirai kei, visual kei and Harajuku punk, among others. What links them is a strong point of view. Silhouettes, prints and details are chosen to signal a specific world rather than to blend in.

How is J-Fashion different from K-Fashion?

K-Fashion tends towards clean lines, neutral palettes and considered layering, so it reads polished and wearable day to day. J-Fashion leans maximalist and subcultural, with louder prints, heavier detailing, and looks that commit fully to one aesthetic. Plenty of our pieces work in both worlds, which is why the two edits sit side by side here.

Which J-Fashion style should I start with?

If you like pastels, bows, stars and character pieces, start with Harajuku Kawaii. If you want tanned-glam Y2K energy with leopard, mesh, rhinestones and bodycon, go to Gyaru Y2K. If your palette is black and pink with lace and ribbon, Jirai Kei is yours. For studs, tartan, crosses and distressing, try Harajuku Punk.

What sizes are available?

Most styles are available in sizes XS to XL. Japanese and Korean street sizing runs small, so go by the measurements in the size guide on each product page rather than the size you usually take.
